I'm a Yelper

After years of reading and trying a few of the suggestions, I finally became an official yelper today. So, if any of you are interested in reading my reviews, go for it! I seem to love giving my opinion on things lately, especially restaurants & shops....it took me a while to do it, I was a bit intimidated by some of the reviews I've read in the past, but so far, so good. One girl has already given me a compliment-haha. And I can make lists, yay, I love lists!

Under My Umberella...

Considering it's like a perfect 75 or so out today, it's kind of backwards for me to post about this...but it looks like it rained in WA at least! On DailyCandy Seattle, they featured Umbrella Society, a new line of chic umbrellas. They are so so cute, I want one, or two! Back in Jan., my umbrella broke when I was walking home, as the wind turned it inside out and it finally snapped. So far, I've been lucky and it hasn't rained enough since for me to buy a new one. The day will come, I'm sure. Umbrella Society has big and small umbrellas, but they are a bit out of my price range ($32-40; I'm more of a $20 girl), but if you buy 2, shipping is free....and raincoats/rainboots are coming soon....check it out!!

Sale Alert

Nordstrom's Shoe Sale begins today! I just got an email about it...click here to look at all the ones on sale....there are a lot of them...and most are 40% off! I know where I'm headed on my lunch break today:)

Traffic & Books (unrelated)

I found this article today in the SF Chronicle and found it quite interesting. Alex and I officially went 2 years out here without a car and, although at times it was a challenge, we're glad we did it and it helped me enjoy a slower pace of commuting and forced me to get very acquainted with the city. I've noticed I'm one of those people who, when I play pedestrian, cars are so annoying, and when I play driver, I'm complaining about the pedestrians.

Anyway, even though we now have a car (which I love the freedom, by the way), it amazes me how much time and energy is wasted in these vehicles. I would love to read the book upon which the article is based. Not one I will be buying, but maybe I can find it at the library....

Speaking of books, here's a list of some of my current/future reads:

* In Defense of Food - loved it

* Paula Deen: It Ain't All About the Cookin'-quick, easy, interesting

* Service Included - just started

* The Fortune Cookie Chronicles - up next

* Breaking Dawn - it's just sitting there waiting for me to crack open

* Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 - before I see the movie

* The Host - anyone have any feedback with this one??

* HP 7 - one day I'll get around to this one (sad, I know)

Anything I'm missing?

My Omnivore's List

This was fun. I saw it on Becks and Posh and I seem to have enough free time today to comment on each item. Doing this, however, made me realize how Western my diet really is! Wikipedia/Google were super useful in this little project. If you have time, do it!

How the Omnivore's 100 Works:
1) Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions.
2) Bold all the items you’ve eaten.
3) Cross out any items that you would never consider eating.
4) Optional: Post a comment at Very Good Taste.

Busy Busy Buzz Buzz

I feel like I haven't posted much of what we've been doing lately. We've been out and about- shopping in Marin and the East Bay, Olympic watching, constructing, eating, celebrating and working! Having a car is fun. Valerie's birthday was last Thursday, so a bunch of us went out to BJ's Saturday night....

We were there waaaaay too long....a bit more than 3 hours....but the pizookie was so delicious, it was worth it just for that. We got the party one that has all 4 flavors in it....oh that peanut butter cookie was way too perfect.

Here we are finally on our way out...Valerie's parents also sent her a Snickers cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory that we delved into last night....Val celebrated in style this year. Happy 24th, neighbor!

After 2 years, we finally have a "finished" living room to enjoy for these last 10 months. No, I don't know why we didn't think of it sooner. It all started with getting a wall mount for the tv at Costco. Alex came up with this brilliant idea to put shelves all around the tv instead of getting a tv stand to sit underneath. Since we're both getting more into the modern look, I was all for it. So, off to Home Depot to get all the materials and Alex went to town. Then, we dug up our curtains from storage to finish it all off. So although half the room is modern, mixed with more traditional, we love the new set-up!! One more photo....

Yes, Alex did time this picture to have on BYUTV with the SLC temple. Kind of cheesy, but that's just Alex....

Farmer's Market

Last week, Alex and I took advantage of the rare summer weather and ventured down to the Ferry Building Farmers Market. Every chance I get to go to the market, I take. It is so fun to be out in all the excitement, see the gorgeous Bay and relish all the pretty flowers and in-season foods! Below are just some photos of flowers & food.
